Message So, I've had a couple Z's.
1990 2+2 TT swap
1994 2+0 NA -Gone =(
1990 2+0 TT

Love every single one!

And now thinking of a 93 Vert that I saw for sale.

Background info, my mommy bought me my first Z in 04. 1990 2+2 Pear white 5 speed, 60K miles, bone stock. F@cking beautiful! Started working on it with a "friend" (dont ask), ended up getting a TT engine. And it sat for years. Mom passed last year, so figured its time to finish her up. Still in the process as the body shop screwed me over.

Anyway, bought a 90 TT (swap), tons of issues, but it runs strong-ish. Dynoed at 501hp to the wheels. But, the car has no A/C. Some body issues, suspension, blah blah.

So I see this beautiful black Vert for sale. Looks good. Sounds nice. Was thinking of swapping the TT engine in there since I have to pull it to change gaskets and my turbos are leaking oil.

So to finally get to the point... Wanted to know if any Vert owners have any regrets ? I mean, so far these cars are a PITA ! Love them to death, but ... fakkkkkk. So I figure with a convertible, its just more headaches. But, I love convertibles. I live in Miami. They were designed for this place. And California too which I'm planning on moving to soon.

The only thing the guy told me was the car was given a rebuilt title due to two pieces on the top being broken. They are the metal rod that basically connects to the part where the top folds first. Long bar that then gets wider. I know that probably makes no sense but that's how he described it to me. He welded a metal piece on top so its solid.

HE said it leaks a bit because the metal lifts the roof a touch, but I saw the weatherstripping was ripped. So I have to get new ones for both sides.

The top didnt go down very smoothly, it was tough to get it to snap into place due to one rod that's not bolted in. but we got it to go. Then, unlocking the hatch part for the top to come back up, it wasn't unlocking. Finally it popped. Weird.

So, those two things kinda freaked me out. Especially since there isnt much of a Z community in Miami, nor many mechanics that specialize on Z's here.

Can any general convertible mechanic fix it? All all convertible tops created equal? Is there even such thing as a convertible mechanic? Are you all reading this and just laughing at my stupidity? Great. Thanks.

Then the trunk button, which I found really cool, worked, then didnt work. The battery was pretty dead, and he said it is electrical, so that might be why.

All in all, I love the car. Would love to have my TT 2+2 and a TT Vert. And my Prius. lol. I love that gay little car.

So, to make a long story longer, I realllyyyyyyyyyyyy want this car, and kinda just wanted reassurance from Vert owners of how awesome it is! My girl keeps giving me shit about my Z's. Buying a crashed Z as a parts car today too. So I'll have 4 at if I get the Vert too. Then put an NA motor back into the 90 TT swap, and sell it as a 90 NA.

Sorry for the long thread, but if any of you Vert owners wouldnt mind giving me some feedback here or email me or give me a call, that'd be awesome! If I get the car I Definitely need to find out what you guys have done stereo wise. All I saw were a speaker in each door!

Gracias amigos!
